Golf Cart Etiquette
When you operate a golf cart, there are some important rules to familiarize yourself with. Many of these rules come down to simple etiquette, which is second nature for veteran golfers. Beginners, however, might not realize how many of these courtesies are considered common sense. Advantage Golf Cars is here to help you learn all about proper golf cart etiquette. When you’re ready to browse our inventory, be sure to visit one of our convenient locations! You can find us in Miami, Florida City, Ocala, Orlando, Palm Beach, and Gainesville, FL.The 90-Degree Rules
The 90-degree rule indicates that you’re permitted to drive out to your ball on the grass at a 90-degree angle. Remember that you’ll need to follow the cart path, position yourself in a spot that is aligned with your ball, then make a right angle turn to drive to the ball. This helps reduce the amount of time your golf cart is on the turf while still allowing you to get to your ball.Cart Path Only
You might encounter a day at the course that requires cart path only, meaning your golf cart must remain on the path and off the grass at all times. In this instance, you’ll need to drive along the path until you’re in line with the ball and walk out to it. You may want to get in the habit of asking about the rules for the day when you arrive at the course so you can be prepared.
Mind the Signs
Another important tip is to always mind the signs posted throughout the course. Additionally, there might be special notices posted about rules you need to follow. If you happen to be visiting a course for the first time and you’re unclear about the rules, seek out an attendant. If you see a sign that says “No Carts Beyond This Point,” then you should not drive your golf cart on the turf.Use Common Sense
As a general rule of thumb, you should always remember to stay behind other golfers as you drive. Regardless of how far off in the distance they might be, a far-shooting ball could very easily land on you or your passenger and lead to an injury. While it might seem unlikely that you’ll get hit by a ball, you still want to take proper precautions to avoid it.If you’re new to the sport, it’s critical to remember that golf requires intense focus and concentration. The smallest distraction can throw off a player’s game and cause them to botch their swing, which is very frustrating. As a result, do your best to avoid loud noises. Don’t blast the radio, goof off, or talk too loudly as you head to the next hole.
There you have it. You’re well on your way to impressing your golf buddies with all your etiquette knowledge.
